 
The region abounds in natural and cultural resources. Hiking and water
recreation opportunities can be experienced at the numerous lakes,
rivers, and parks throughout the region.
Near Petersburgh, a rural town of 1,400 whose total
population was the same a hundred years ago, there is the Taconic
Ridge/Petersburgh Pass trail (voted the most scenic day-hike by the
Adirondack Mountain Club), Grafton Lakes and Cherry Plain State Parks.
Other local features are the Peace Pagoda and the Berkshire Bird
Sanctuary.
Theater, museums, historical sites, and educational
institutions are within easy access in Albany, NY, Bennington, VT and
Williamstown, MA. Regional transportation hubs (Amtrak train,
international airport, interstate highways, etc.) are within 45 minutes.
